With this being a very new website and with all the functionality we have rolled out in a very short period of time we were unable to fully test all the functionality and features the new site is now offering. Please use this thread to post any bugs, problems or anything else that doesn't seem to be working or is not working the way you expect.

We will be monitoring this thread and working through the issues posted here on as a priority since they impact the overall usability of the site. If you have an idea or new feature you would like to see added, please create a new thread in the Suggestion box and we'll see if what we can add. We want this to be a very user friendly and useful site, but we need your feedback on what is working and what you would like to see.

Here are a few of the known issues/problems we currently know about and are working on -

  1. Forum Search - Does not appear to be working at all. (This does not include "Site Search" which appears to be working fine and allows you to search for articles within the site, but not within the forums. We are currently looking into the possibility of creating a unified search that will return both articles and forum messages in a single search)

  2. Gallery - Confusing interface for member contributed images. Each member is able to generate only a single gallery category and add photos to it. Working on adding the ability to upload member photos to any category within the gallery

I'm sure there are more issues then what I've found or been notified about. If something appears to be broken or doesn't make sense drop us a note here or use the webmaster link on the contact us page to let us know.

Thanks!

Hey Matleg801,

I'm assuming you are getting to the point where you can browse and hit the upload button (My Profile->My Avatar->Submit Avatar for Upload). Are you getting an error or is it just timing out?
If your getting and error please post it here as I haven't seen any in the logs. If it's a timeout you may be trying to upload a picture/file that is too large. Try making the image smaller by either reducing the resolution or resizing it (I use VSO Image Resizer for this)
Let me know if these suggestions do not work.

Thanks!

Yes I think the problem I am having is the picture is to big, but I'm not very smart when it comes to the computor as you can tell by my spelling. So I don't know how to change it.

There are actually a few tools online you can use to resize the image and save it back to your system. I would either do a search for Resize Image or you can just use shrinkpictures.com to do it for you. Shrinkpictures.com is good as it has a "Create Avatar" function that will resize the photo for you to be used in forums like this one (200x200 is a good size to start with for most forum avatars as the forum software can usually handle images this size).

Let us know if that still doesn't work for you!

Cameron,

Great job on the site, very user friendly. I am wondering if I can turn off the function that generates an email everytime someone posts on certain topics. I check the site fairly regularly so I don't really need the extra emails in my inbox.

Is there a way to to this?

Thanks,

Nathan

Nathan,

You bet, when replying to a topic the first time there will be a subscribe checkbox near the bottom of the page (but above the Submit button) that you can uncheck. I think it says something like Check this box to have yourself notified about replies to this topic. If you are already subscribed and want to just unsubscribe so you don't keep getting emails there is a box within the Forum thread that will say "Unsubscribe" when you are reading post (grouped with the reply buttons). Just select that and it won't send email updates on new posts.

I'm playing with the forum settings trying to find a good balance on notifications. The subscribe/notify is enabled by default but I may disable this in the near future as it's become a bit of an annoyance for me as well.

Thanks for the feedback, let us know of anything else we can tweak to make it a better experience!!

Cameron,

Found it, if you reply to this tonight and I don't have an email in the morning then I know it worked.

Thanks again,

nathan
