As many of you have noticed and let us know the BOU website has been less then responsive while browsing. I have made a few tweaks over the last couple days to see if we can help improve the response time.
One of the changes that seemed to help the most was enabling page caching so the software running the site doesn't have to regenerate the articles each time there is a new request. This has helped almost every portion of the site except the forum and gallery respond much quicker and is probably a worthwhile change. There is no page caching happening on the forums, so they will still run a little slower then the rest of the site, but will allow the most current posts to be displayed in a timely manner.
If you are experiencing any problems with the site it may be due to these changes. Please let me know here or send us an email and let us know so we can get it resolved.
Thanks!

What is the timeout time for being logged in. I noticed that it took me over a half hour to post soemthing and when I did I got the message that the site was blocked for public posts. This happened on more than one occassion and I lost everything I was writing. It is a pain to remember exactly and reconstruct. What can you do to make this easier? timeout message 30 seconds befor it logs you off maybe?

The easiest way to prevent this is to check the "Remember Me" box when you login if you are not on a public computer. This will place a cookie on your machine and it will pretty much never log you out. I've played with the settings on the timout quite a bit as it's gotten me before as well and 30 minutes seem to be the best balance but maybe I'll kick it up to an hour. Too long and we run into performance problems while the site tries to keep track of everyone using it... I'll check into some options for warnings or maybe at least see if we can save a draft or something - I know this can be a huge pain...
