Just wondering what everyone shoots? Im a little skeptical about mechanicals and was curious about everyones thoughts. Also wont lower poundage bows perform better with fixed blades?

I used to be a die-hard muzzy man, but from the recommendation of a friend, tried and change to Grim Reapers about three years ago. I have taken several animals with them from my 65lb bow and have been very pleased with their performance.

125 Wenzel Woodsman’s for me. However, I did take Grim Reapers with me to Africa and shot them out of my 54lb recurve and they did the job. Below is an impala I took with a GR.

Mechanical(Razortips). They do make a blade called the Hades which is fixed blade.

I like the Trophy Ridge rockets the steel head 100gr for elk or other heavy game I've seen it shoot through a steel drum both sides. For everything else I shoot the Hammer Head it's a 2" cut 3 blade. Makes some big holes and short blood trails. The sidewinder is a 1 1/2" cut with a chisel tip it works great for about everything.

I tried the steelhead 100's and had trouble keeping the screws tight. The blades kept falling out. Have you had that problem?

I have only lost blades and screws once in five years of using them luckily it was only on a squirrel. I always check the screws when I spin them on and once in a while I find a loose one usually out of a brand new pack or one that I've had in around for a long time. I know more than 10 people that shoot them religiously with nothing but success. My dad shot three animals in Africa with the same arrow and sidewinder just to test them.

For the last 5 years I have shot the 150 Gr. Magnus Stinger 4 blade. They have performed flawlessly for me.
With that being said I think shot placement is 90% of the battle.
A hole through the heart no matter what shape or size will kill an animal.

Brandon pretty much nailed it. Hit them in the right spot. That said, if I make a mistake out there, I like the added strength and integrity that solid, cut on impact heads give me. Like the magnus, and others.
